In addition to our more formal concerts that we do to raise funds for local charities, the choir or small groups from the choir love to bring music to people in the informal setting of their club, their care home and even in hospital.

We have become regular visitors to the Oxhey Ward. We sang with the patients in the Oxhey Ward at Watford General Hospital. October on 30th 2025, then revisited again on December the 12th to help them celebrate Christmas
Being a community choir and being in the community is very important to all the choir members. On the 30th of November we once again had the privelege of singing as part of the NHS West Hertfordshire Trust’s Memorial Service for the friends and family who have lost loved ones in hospital this year. It was particulary poignant this year as the choir itself has suffered losses in amongst its members and friends.

The Golden Memories Club is a club for people with mild to moderate dementia and their carers and is supported by the Watford Football Club. This has become one of the choir’s favourite “gigs” in the community and we return there regularly to add music to the prompts used to invoke memories.
Our latest session was on November the 10th 2025

VE Day (08/05/2025) was celebrated in the Oxhey Ward at Watford General Hospital with Bunting, Cakes and Tea. A small group of the choir were delighted to be invited along to share songs sung originally by Vera Lynn, Flanagan and Allen and Max Bygraves and others. The wonderful anthem ” I Vow to Thee My Country” provided a particularly poignant moment for everyone.
Only a small number of members of the choir could fit into the Oxhey Ward at Watford General Hospital but we did our best to fill the ward with music and Katie Pardy, Dementia Specialist Nurse’s comment about the impact of our visit made us feel we had, indeed, shared a little joy.
“The visit from the Watford Phoenix choir today filled the Room with joy bringing smiles to patients and staff alike“
We in turn were struck by the compassion, patience and care shown by the staff. 17/3/2025

An invitation to the sing at the Watford Centre for the Blind gave us our first opportunity to add a guitar accompaniment our singing. It certainly added a vibe to the rock songs of the 60’s and choir and audience swung along to the beat. 26/02/2025
It is 5 years since we sang at Drum so it was really lovely to come back in 2023 and to sing to a packed hall. With a large number of the choir able to attend, we really filled the hall with sound. Three of our number were brave enough to bring out the tap shoes for a Gershwin number. A surprise for the guests who were highly appreciative.

A few choir members had the fun of singing for and with the Golden Memories Club at the Watford Football Club on Monday the 13th of March 2023. We revisited golden oldies and enjoyed the great hospitality. Looking forward to a return booking.
